Created among various realms of cinematic reality and materiality, Ostin’s films focus on the notion of belonging and escapism in Vietnamese context. His first film, The Journey, a documentary delving into his single mom’s love stories and another two shorts, short/cut & Bình, make up a trilogy which centralizes teenage characters’ outlook of the grown-ups. Every night after finishing the dishes, he ponders whether lighting up a candle or burning agarwood. Pigeons and fish are his favorite animals.
